The photographer of this Walker Evans and it was published in 1935.
The setting is outside. It looks like its either moring or afternoon time because I see shadows.
There are about 6 adults clearly seen in this picture. They are all negros and have poor looking clothes. The thing that catches my eyes are that where they are sitting and the expressions on their faces.
This is taking place at a building that kind of looks like a working place for negros. It is very run down and falling apart. The structures that surround the building is a car and what seems to be boxes people are sitting on.
The tone seems to be a negative tone because the expressions on the people's faces are not happy and tired-looking. It looks like a dark time for this group of people because even though it appears to br light outside, the people look dark and meloncholy.
I think this because the they are all sitting and they all look very sad and tired. This is not the kind of thing we want to happen to workers. I do not approve of this,
I would ask the photographer: 1) Why did you take a picture of these particular people?
2) Why were they unaware and unposed for this picture?

This picture was published in May in 1941. Jack Delano is the photographer of this picture.
The setting of this picture is outside, and it is very hard to tell the time of day, but I think it is in the afternoon.
There are 2 people in this photo. One is a child and the other is a mother. They are both negros and are wearing worn out clothing. The thing that catches me eyes is the telephone poles on the left side. That is very conveniate for this family.
This a home with lots of tall grass surrounding it. The house looks very run down and could fall down any minute. I also see some trees int he background surrounding the house.
I think this photo's tone is sort of sad because the child is sitting looking sad and bored outside the house. I think they wish they lived in a better house that was not run down.
I think this is the tone because as I stated earlier, the child is sitting down looking sad and bored. Th emother seems to have spotted the photographer and must be embarrassed.
2 questions i would ask the photographer would be. 1) Why did you take a picture of this particular family?
2) Why take it from this angle?

This photo was taken by Jack Delano in May of 1941.
This photo was taken outside in aparently the day time.
There are two people in this picture. They are adult negros working out in a prarrie. The thing that catches my eyes the most is the box on the womans head.
There are no structures in this picture except the wagon. It looks sort of run down and unsafe for work to be done on.
The tone of the photo is quiet and sort of boring.
I think this because they are in the middle of a deserted place so there are no street noises or loud noises. Also to me, I think carring a box on your head all day is really boring.
2 questions I would ask the photographer is 1) Why did you take the photo at this angle?
2) Why did you pick these people to photograph.

Sidewalk_Setting.jpg
This photo was taken by Walker Evans; he was born in 1903 and died in 1975. This photograph was taken in Selma, Alabama, in 1958. The setting of this photograph is outdoors, on the sidewalk in a town. The lighting is natural sunlight, and it seems to be around midday. Being as the sidewalk is in a town, I would assume that it is an urban setting.
The people in the photo are either sitting on benches or walking down the street. There are about six people, all of whom are not looking at the camera. All the people seem to be consumed in their own business around the town. I have to say, the thing that catches my eye first was the sign saying ‘The Trading Post. Retail – Wholesale Chickens-Eggs Feed- Flour Grocers’. It really made me think of what shopping for food and essentials was like back then.
There are two structures in this photograph, ‘The Trading Post’ and another one in the background. Yet, because it’s so far off, I can’t make out what type of building it is. People are surrounding the buildings, along with merchandise that is sold at the Trading Post.
The tone of this photograph isn’t dark, or negative. It seems to me that people are just trying to get through a day regularly during the Great Depression. They want it to be normal again instead of tough to survive.
I believe this is so because the people aren’t looking toward the camera, they are just going about their own business. Normalcy is hard to achieve when everything is expensive and your income is lower. If you even have a job.
I would ask the photographer why he took this image at the angle he did. I would also ask if he has any connections with the people in his photograph.
